WIL DARCANGELO: Music

1. Tuesday is the New Saturday

(WIL DARCANGELO)
music & lyrics by Wil Darcangelo - dedicated to Café Destaré Tuesday night staffers Jenny Carrion, Kristina Cleveland, Cassandra Heilig, Robin Streb, Carolyn Gray & Jeremy Durrin
This song is huge for me. It represents the Golden Ideal of thinking outside of the box. I wrote this track specifically to celebrate the amazing circumstance that led me to learning this material, becoming a jazz artist (in my way), and finding a path to my dreams: Café Destaré in Fitchburg, Massachusetts - my first jazz gig. It's basically a love letter to the Tuesday night staff there who were my cheerleaders from day one. The final verse of the song is written directly to them.
There is even a quoted reference to the Harry Warren/Mack Gordon classic "At Last" at the end of the second verse. This was the wedding song for Destaré staffer Jenny Carrion and her husband. Jenny was pregnant while I was learning the ropes of jazz performance at Destaré and I loved singing "At Last" every night just for her and her baby. Quoting the song here is a shout-out to my good wishes for her.
TUESDAY IS THE NEW SATURDAY

You’re working on a Saturday night, my baby,
and sleeping on a Sunday alone.
By Monday I’m a goner and I need you real bad.
But Tuesday always comes around.

I’m finding that Tuesday
is the new Saturday.
But I cannot wait a day
until I can have my way with you, baby.

Tuesday
is the new Saturday.
But I cannot wait a day
until I can have my way with you, baby.

My weekend is a million thousand light years away,
and payday seems so far in the past.
My kingdom for a Wednesday just to know I’m half done.
But Tuesday always comes around… “at last.”

Refrain.

Instr. Bridge.

You make me feel a million dollars every time I stand here
singing you a love song or two.
I’m talking about a night of the week that I live for.
I’m talking about a night when I'm new.
And in case you ever wonder who this love song is meant for,
I’ll tell you right now that it’s you.

Refrain.
